Eric Martin is currently MVP and CTO for Capital One’s largest businesses: US Card Mainstreet and Upmarket. He also leads US Card’s Digital Servicing Mobile and Web products, Architecture and Three Sixty Engineering for US Card’s 4,000+ tech professionals. Prior to this role, Eric joined Capital One as MVP for Cyber Security where he led Architecture, Engineering, Cloud Security and Machine Learning. In that role, he created one of the first dedicated, in-house Cyber Security Machine Learning organizations. Eric brings over 20-years diverse technical, engineering, cybersecurity and leadership experience to Capital One. He previously served as VP and CISO for eBay, Inc leading Security and Site Resiliency for PayPal, eBay Marketplaces, Enterprise and all eBay, Inc subsidiaries globally. Prior to eBay, Inc., Eric serviced as VP and CISO, and Leader of Cyber Fraud Management for Intuit, which included businesses such as TurboTax, Mint, Intuit Financial Services, Payroll and of course, QuickBooks. At Intuit he co-led creation of Intuit’s strategy and roadmap to move out of datacenters into AWS.
Prior to Intuit, Eric served as Amazon’s CISO and leader of Security Architecture and Engineering for Amazon.com and AWS. Eric is one of AWS’ original architects including AWS’ security architecture and many of the core design principles that were implemented and in use today. Eric has also held engineering and security leadership roles at IBM and WPP (fka TNS) along with multiple entrepreneurial, advisory, and consultant roles throughout his career.
